COMPOSER, PRODUCER, music EDITOR… music lover!

Thanks for checking out my portfolio!

I’m a British composer living in the land of Hobbits & Avatar, New Zealand.

After spending a decade in Taiwan, I’ve had the opportunity to compose film music across a wide range of genres. As you'll see on my Projects page, my work spans feature films (both full-length and short), TV dramas, and trailer music. I’ve also had the privilege of composing theme music for two series, both nominated for Best Sound Design/Best Score at the Golden Bell Awards. Additionally, I have experience in Music Editing, working closely with music supervisors and directors to seamlessly sync both original compositions and licensed tracks to picture.

From language to music: interpreting chinese

While working in Taipei as a native English speaker proficient in Chinese, I navigated the challenge of interpreting Mandarin dialogue and translating its nuances to convey the right mood and emotion. This experience deepened my understanding of the subtlety of film scoring - knowing when to hold back and when to go full steam ahead!

Liaising with filmmakers, both young and well-established, it was important to respect cultural differences. As well as scoring and music editing, I had the honour of working with the Golden Horse Film Academy, guiding and sharing ideas with young filmmakers from across Central and Southeast Asia.

living for music!

As well producing, I’m also a big vinyl addict.

Ever since a kid, I loved playing on my parents’ portable suitcase-style record player - you know, those cheap 70s ones! Speeding up, slowing down, scratching (or destroying) their 7 inch singles; endless hours of fun. It’s only now, having been a collector for almost 20 years, I realise I should’ve looked after those old relics better!

Digital music of course has its benefits, but there’s something amazing about being able to hold an album, read about how it was made and devote that little bit more attention to listening to it. Check out some photos of my collection by clicking on the link below…
